Programs And Features Will Not Open

I just install the nero 9 trail and now when i go to uninstall it, programs and features pops up for a second and then crashes. Unfortenuatly, i did not have system restore turned on. Right clicking it and clicking it dosent work either. I can see the window pop up for a second but they it crashes. Anyone know of a fix, i searched the forums and google my heard out to no avail.

Edit : After running the nero 9 uninstall manually, it still wont open. also, running the command appwiz.cpl in the run prompt, it still will not work

Edit 2: Opens in safe mode.... a service maybe...

Edit 3:Windows Update dispays "The Page Failed to Load and Windows Media Player no longer automaticly play video files when i double click on them, on when i go File>open... in a command prompt scf /SCANNOW says that there is no integrety problems.

I think you still have lots code of Nero in your system.Before you try repair system I suggest use Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility (Windows Installer Cleanup)to clear eventually remains after Nero and other unnessesary and unwanted programs.Make sure do you exactly remove the following folders:

C:\Program Files\Nero
C:\Program files\Common Files\Nero

So i rean the windows installer cleanup util. and uninstalled everything and ran a nero cleaning tool which found some traces. I go to open my programs and fetures and it works but when i restart, smae problem.

Also, when i roght cluicvk on a video file i get this

So im things nero is still in my system. Any other tips before i try a repair?

ok so i resarted my computer and the error message was gone so there was nothing to remove. I am still haveing the orginal problem... i still dont kniow what is causing it

Edit: the SL UI Notifaction Serivice is set to Automatic but dosen not start with the computer. Could this be causing the issue?

Wont repair, says that my disc is corrupt. No scratches on it and my dvd reader reads everything else fine. Am i doing something wrong?

As a test, take you Vista DVD to another computer to see if it can be used without any problems from it. Just close the installation window to back out of it to not do anything to the computer.

I can get to start to repair then it gives me an error when it copying the files. I didnt write down the address but im gonna give it another shot

It may mean that the hard drive is corrupted. You may need to format and do a clean install instead. :(

Check to make sure that your antivirus and other security (ex: 3rd party firewall) programs are disabled first, then try the installation again. They could be blocking the installation.

Since there is a chance that your Vista installation DVD is bad, see if you can install Vista at boot without formating. If successfull, your old installation will be stored at C:\Windows.old.

If not, then you may need to copy or order another Vista installation DVD for your 64 bit Home Premium edition. You can order a copy for $9.99 S&H directly from Microsoft if it is not a OEM copy of Vista that you have.
