It really depends on what is your pc using for. However, regardless, I would add another gb of ram.

2gig of ram is the real minimum spec.

At this particular point, efficiency is of little concern until you can increase the total amount of ram you have. 2GB is the absolute minimum you should consider. Because you're using Vista x86, you won't be able to go above 4GB, although depending on your motherboard, this may be practically limted to around 3.5GB, even if you do slot in the full 4GB.

I'll make the assumption that you are running with onboard graphics, and that is hurting performance. Slotting in a dedicated graphics card will help to take the load off of the system ram (it doesn't have to be a very big one, even a 128MB or 256MB card will do)

To minimize the load on your hard disk, you should consider also adding an additional 250GB drive, and then redirect all your personal folders (documents, pictures, videos, downloads, etc.) to that drive, and then leave the 80GB drive as the system drive for the OS, installed programs and games. This also has the advantage if you need to reload (for whatever reason), then your chances of data loss because of an accidental format will be minimized.

You biggest priority though still remains ram. Add more ram.
