ACPI IRQ holder error?

hi
When I turned my computer on today, it has told me that it found new hardware and wants to install drivers. I haven't added anything for a long time, since I put 3rd hard drive. Because it couldn't find the drivers it came up with ACPI IRQ holder error but I don't know what it is referring too.
I googled it but there are so many, that is very hard to pick which one it is. In my device manager I don't have anything that doesn't have a driver or not identified.
Can you please shed some light on the matter

Thanks
ACDCFAN

Re: ACPI IRQ holder error?

I had the same thing happen to me about 1/2 hour ago. I haven't installed any new hardware/software. And there are no conflicts in System Information. Additionally, everything seems to be working OK. Maybe an update conflict? Though I haven't seen any updates to anything yet today.

Re: ACPI IRQ holder error?

I'm strictly guessing here. However that's what has me thinking it has to be a software corruption. The error seems to follow a driver failure, whether real or false. My guy's laptop did not have service pack 1. I instructed him to update to SP1 and watch for this error again. Anyone with this issue running SP1?

Re: ACPI IRQ holder error?

Yes, I've had SP1 installed for quite a while now - since it came out. Still happened to me last night. Vista Home Premium, 32 bit, and Vista came OEM on an HP tower.

Re: ACPI IRQ holder error?

I was getting this error because Vista, out of nowhere, wanted to install new drivers for my HP w2207 monitor. Which wasn't necessary. Yesterday, I applied the fix in the message linked below. I've had no problems since then. Have rebooted several times in the past two days, so I think it may be OK. error code 80070005 Vista update - SysChat

Re: ACPI IRQ holder error?

I just got this same error today. I installed some new programs five days ago when I got my new computer, but no new hardware...other than connecting it to a monitor. I have been using my computer over the past five days and it just appeared out of nowhere today.

Re: ACPI IRQ holder error?

I got the same error today. I was doing a scheduled back-up, but it failed, claiming a bad file system needed to be checked. I ran the complete file system check on reboot, yet there were no errors. Except the system identified an unidentified new hardware that it called ACPI IRQ Holder, which it could not find a driver for. Incidentally, the Vista back-up will not work now - still fails.

Re: ACPI IRQ holder error?

Hi,
When I turned my computer on, ten minutes ago, I had a message inviting me to install a pilot for a new unknown hardware. However, I didn't install any new peripherics and I doesn't understand what it is refering to.
What's happened with this ?
