| Vista Ultimate X64 | Vista taskbar previews... hello a question about the taskbar previews... when i play a movie or any window with a dynamic movement inside it, i don't see it live when i hover the window in taskbar... for example, when minimizing a media player window, i don't see the video still running in the preview, only when the window is opened i see the video running. so i guess this is set for saving in cpu, but how can i change it? maybe a registry edit? |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Vista taskbar previews... Hello Shayx, Double check to see if Windows Media Player is set as the default program with all of it's associations set with it. This tutorial will help show you how to if needed. Default Programs - Program Default Associations If that does not help, then see if turning the taskbar thumbnails off and on may reset it to allow it to show properly. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista Ultimate X64 | Re: Vista taskbar previews... well i don't think it's something that went wrong in the system... because if you think about it it's quite rational that the thumbnails will not show living picture to save cpu usage, but as proud owner of QX9650, i couldn't care less ![]() there must be a tweak for this. and i'm not using WMP at all, only Media Player Classic. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Vista taskbar previews... Using Media Player Classic may be the issue then. Thumbnails are played or displayed using the default program that normally opens those file types. If you change the default program, in this case WMP, to a 3rd party program, then thumbnails may not be displayed or displayed properly with the 3rd party program as default. I have WMP set as my default player, and the taskbar thumbnail previews shows live video playing for me. As a test, make WMP the default program again and see if the thumbnails will view properly again. You can easily select Media Player Classic as your default again later via that program's settings or through Default Programs. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista Ultimate X64 | Re: Vista taskbar previews... well you were right... when opened with WMP 11, the thumbails preview in taskbar kept on going even when the focus was not on it. well it's not that disturbing but i thought maybe there is a tweak for this... |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Vista taskbar previews... Sorry, but there is not one other than using WMP 11. You might get lucky with another 3rd party program that plays or opens that file type instead. That's the only problem with using 3rd party programs for files that affect features like thumbnails. You just never know if they will fully work and support Vista until you use them. Sorry, ![]() Shawn |
