| Vista Home Premium 64bit | DVD Drive help I have the Samsung SH-S223F as my DVD drive, recently it has stopped reading discs, so i can no longer watch DVDs, or get pictures from any of my CDs, its as if there is nothing in the drive. I dont get any error messages except one time it said something about a soundcard driver fault but i didnt read the whole message as it dissapeared, shutting down WMP with it. I do have a soundcard installed (Genius Soundmaker Value 5.1, which i took from my old XP build) but have now reverted to using the onboard sound. Ill remove the soundcard this afternoon to see if that makes a difference. Cheers RD |

| vista ultamate 64bit | Re: DVD Drive help Well all i can suggest there is to go to device manager and un-install the drive the re boot If after you reboot and the drive still wont work then the chances are that it has burned its self out meaning you will have to get ur self a new drive... the are not all that expensive these days.... around £13 GBP for and ok drive |

| Vista Ultimate 64 bit | Re: DVD Drive help Hi RetroDude, You can also try your luck to see if you can locate the appropriate firmware. It usually work right away if you flash the right one. However, usually it wouldn't worth all the trouble looking for one than just get a different drive. Here are a few you may like to take a look: Samsung - SH-S223F firmware versions Here is discussion on the same subject which may help: The Firmware Page • View topic - Help with Flashing Samsung SH-S223F |
