the solution you gave me did not help because of my regedit is disabled as well so i cannot use regedit to enable task manager i run vista home premium so i dont have gpedit or w/e msc i recently have a virus that i dont know how to delete called mal/generic-A and my computer keeps saying i have an unknown USB in port 4 but thers nothing ther i dont know if all this ties in to my problem and help is much appreciated, my anit-virus software is spysweeper that i bought from a bestbuy thx

No Problem Craig,

See if Method Three in this tutorial below will allow you to enable regedit again so that you can enable Task Manager with the other one.

Spy Sweeper is just a anti-spyware program and not a antivirus program. You can use the free Avast Home Edition antivirus program to run a very thorough scan after updating it's definition files. Hopefully it can remone that Trojan for you. If not, formatting the hard drive and doing a clean reinstall will.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

i had the same problem, it is a virus that usually but not always blocks the run command, the folder options, cmd, task manager and regedit...
took a while to recover from it too since regedit was blocked... but regedt32.exe works fine so you can access the registry from there...
