Incomplete Vista Install CD

Well tragic few days for me... :( First my samsung dvd drive (sh-s223f) failed to read any sort of media, i tried all the fixes i could find and now its being RMA to scan. So i replaced it with an old IDE drive and all was good, everything worked fine, the second time i turn it on after replacing the drive it says bootmgr or whatever is currupt, so i loaded in my install DVD, (OEM btw) went to do a repair install for startup repair, it found nothing wrong, even though 5 minutes previous it had told me this was wrong. So i tried a few more times, finally bit the bullet and loaded up Ubuntu as live cd, got any files and programs backed up that i needed. Went to do a clean install of Vista assuming that would work, and it failed. Got an error number and explanation saying that bootmgr is missing! So now my CD is worthless what should i do? Will microsoft replace it? Would the company i bought it from replace it? So yeh where should i go from here? All i can assume is the broken drive did something to the disk when i did a fix recommended to me.

I would ordinarily say that the drive is damaged, but you've already tried a different drive, with no luck.

In this case, I'd guess that either your RAM is bad or poorly seated, or the motherboard is failing (more specifically, the parts that control memory or drives).

Have you overclocked your CPU or Memory in any way?

EDIT:
What is the exact error you get when you try to install Windows?

I would test your Windows Vista DVD on another computer. Get another DVD drive and test it on your computer. If you are overclocking, don't do it. Reduce your RAM to 2 sticks. Reseat everything on the board. Remove whatever you don't need to do the base install. Post the errors.

Thanks for that guys, im not overclocking, but when attaching the new drives i may have unseated the ram. Later on tday when i have time ill disconnect everything and then reconnect it all. The olod drive definetly was faulty as it failed to work in a seperate PC. And the new drive did work until i moved the tower back to its usual spot. So something may have unseated then. Thanks again and ill reply with my errors, i believe one was 0x8007002, which i think is a missing file error or something.

Right, i got it working, turns out the sata cable that connects my HDD to mobo had come loose when i added my new dvd drive, all is good now except i lost everything on my old installation :( but i think i had most of it on backup cds.
