HELLO ;;;

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO PRINT OUT SOME PORTIONS OF DOCUMENTS. I'VE HIGHLIGHTED THE 1ST SECTION THAT I WANT, MOVE TO THE 2ND SECTION AND TRY TO HIGHTLIGHT IT, BUT THE MINUTE I HOLD THE BAR DOWN AND I MOVE THE CURSOR AND THEN TOUCH THE "TOUCH PAD" THE FIRST HIGHLIGHTING GETS WIPED OUT ??? I'M USING A LOT OF PAPER BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HIGHLIGHT 2 OR 3 SECTIONS INDEPENDANTLY OF PRINTING THE WHOLE THING OUT. :confused: AND :(

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

THANKS A LOT

I don't know of any way to select multiple sections as you describe.
What I do is open up a new MS Word document, highlight the first bit of text, copy and paste into Word. Do this until all is copied and then print from there.

If anyone knows a better way I too would be interested to know how.

Have you tried holding down the Ctrl key while moving from selection to selection, does that work ?

Hi Florence.

I'm guessing you're using Microsoft Word? In order to perform a "staggered" selection, you need to do the following:
  1. Make your initial selection
  2. Hold down the <CTRL> key when selecting the next block of text
  3. Repeat 2 until you have selected all the blocks you want.
This IS what you've been doing, right? If you don't hold down the <CTRL>, then the first selection will be lost when you click to start the next block.

Also, to make your life easier, I'd suggest you get yourself a USB mouse and plug that into your laptop, and then disable the Touchpad. The operations you're trying to perform will be that much easier. Use the touchpad only when a mouse cannot be used - when you're on the move and your laptop cannot be placed onto a table or some other surface with enough room for a regular mouse.

Off topic, you need to check your use of the CAPS LOCK key too. Typing in all uppercase is rude as it is considered shouting. Never mind the fact that it is harder to read.

AHA! Make initial selection THEN use <CTRL>, that's where I was going wrong. Thanks Djomlija.
