Vista won't open images from CD

I am trying to open jpeg image files from a CD on my new Vista PC laptop and it is not working. I think I burned them on a Mac - there is a small red Apple icon on the disc drive icon.

I can see the jpeg files in the disc folder but can't open them by double-clicking the jpeg icons - nothing happens.

I can't import them into Windows Photo Gallery.

When I drag and drop them into Photoshop, it just opens blank white jpeg of the same dimensions.

If I try to open them from within Photoshop, I get the error message: "A device attached to the system is not functioning".

I can't copy the files onto my computer.

I can open the images in Windows XP and Windows 2000, just not Vista. I assume the problem is because the discs were burned on a Mac (I could be wrong).

Any ideas? Is there any way around this? Help!

It could even be the actual brand of disc that your Vista drive doesn't like or maybe the reading laser in your drive has failed.
How old is the laptop ?
Sorry but that's all I can offer in the way of help so I'd wait and see what the experts can come up with ;)

I opened the CD on a friend's XP laptop, copied the files onto her hard drive, then burned them again. This new disc works.

So that's a workaround, but not really a great fix - what if I didn't have access to another PC? I've only been using Vista a few days but I already loathe it! Does it have ANY advantages over XP?

Try converting them to JPG from JPEG. They are slightly different.

Did you change the disc brand when you did the re-burn?

You say this one works so it must have been a problem with the burn the first time.
