Problems with Photo Transfers

Has anybody had problems with the Windows Easy Transfer cable from an "photo set-up" HP Pavillion mx 70 (circa 2001) to a new HP? I can't get the cable to work and the only system error I can find is that my USB port is not high speed. Since I couldn't do a direct transfer I started loading my photos via disks. I'm also having problems with VISTA "reading" my old Kodak digital disks (2002, 2001, 2000). Went back to the pavillion copied the photos to flash drive and then loaded to my new HP. At this rate it will take me months to transfer all my photos! I'm also having problems with getting VISTAs to see my HP 3500 scanner. I couldn't find any updates to the print driver. Is there any way to transfer/use the HP image zone from XP? Lastly, any reason why Netzero keeps getting corrupted with VISTAs?

Install a USB 2 card in your computer. They are cheap.

Hi
another way would be, if you have network cards in both computers, get hold of a "crossover" network cable and use that to transfer. I think it will even use easy file transfer to perform the transfer
