Desktop Problems

Hi I'm new here.

Im using Vista Basic on a Sony Vaio NR32L.

Last night I did everything normally, switched it on this morning and:

c:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop is not accesible. Access is denied.

So I tried to change things, but I cant get into My Computer or Control Panel or anything else in fact.

Also to actually switch on it takes years and then the message appears.

Re: Desktop Problems

Hi Macca,

Hard to tell what has caused this. You could try going into Safe mode - Tap F8 after the Bios screen ( black screen with white writing ) and before Windows starts loading.

Then arrow down to Last known good configuration and press Enter.

Hope it helps

Re: Desktop Problems

HI,

Try going back into safe mode and do a system restore to a point before this problem started

System Restore - How to

If system restore doesn't fix it , try the SFC command from safe mode.

System Files - SFC Command

hope it helps

Re: Desktop Problems

What kind of virus protection do you have? Sounds like it might be virus related. I agree, try a system restore to a point that you know your system was working well/

Re: Desktop Problems

You're welcome.

Pleased it worked out for you

Would you mind clicking User CP at the top of this page and input your system specs. ( Just click edit system specs on the left of your user page, enter your specs., scroll to bottom of page and click Save Changes ) - it will help if you have another question in the future - thanks
