Places For Cheap Ram?

Well I upgraded my main computer with new RAM. So I would like to upgrade my backup computer with probably 2GB, since it only has 2 slots. It's XP and the ram I have left is too small but fits in it. It's DDR 266MHz, so I'm guessing PC2100. Does anybody know of any online sites that might have it for a pretty decent price? Preferably under $30. I looked on Ebay but the sellers don't have feedback that I'd agree with. Thanks...

I always buy my RAM from newegg, they seem to have great prices. I just bought 4GB 800MHz PC-26400 for 40 bucks (After rebate) literally minutes ago

Yeah I was thinking about newegg.com. Is there another kind of RAM I could get that might be cheaper? Like do I HAVE to have DDR 266MHz? If not, what other ones could I search for? Thanks.

Do you know the brand and model number of the motherboard? It depends on what your motherboard will take.

Umm no I don't. Is there a way I can find out without using the internet? Because I don't have enough RAM to run it right now.

That gave me some right info about my computer Compaq S6500NX, but it gave me the wrong memory. And the memory was like $49.95.

I did a search and I found that your computer should take DDR 333 (PC2700 I think). It also said that it has 512mb ram, which would seem more than enough to run a browser and connect to the internet. Maybe the S6500NX is just the series number, is there another number on the back or sides?

Jeremy

Edit: Also if it is DDR 333 it is going to be more than DDR2 800. Newegg has a couple for around $50.00 for two gigs.

Hello xTweakx.

If you don't want to waste money and maybe fry the motherboard; you need to be sure how much and the exact type of RAM the mobo will accept....;)

Mmk, I'll prolly just get a deal off ebay of the ones I'm sure it'll take. That's how I got my RAM for this computer. I have one stick of memory that fits in there right now and it's DDR 266 256MB. I want 2x 1GB sticks for 2GB. And those sticks on those sites look way to large for my computer. Thanks tho..
