Hello

Ok well let's begin. My father n law has a HP machine with Vista on it. Ever since he purchased it he when viewing webpage's, the headers and stuff like words overlap each other and it is very hard to read. Now it is not on all webpage's but on most, and it is not the main text. For instance when you log onto EBAY, all the links on the left under Shop Your Favorite Categories are messed up. The clickable words are on top of each other yet spread out a little. Please help me out so we can get this resolved. I tried to adjust the display setting for a larger screen but that did not work. His screen settings are maxed out. I think 1440x900 @ 32 bit. I know this really does not make a whole lot of sense but it is hard to explain...

The browser could be not downloading the site right also if you tried another browser and its fine then I would use that browser.

It definitely sounds like somethings amiss with the browsers settings. Has your father in law changed any settings, added plug-ins etc?

I would do as mansrm81 suggested and try some different browsers. If they work, then the problem lies with the current browser.

ok i will have him try it but a question still stands in my mind why would his broswer be different from mine if we both use IE then mine should be messed as well right?

You could also try before you try another browser is to reset IE by going into internet options then click on the advanced tab then clicking on reset.

I get the same effect on my 1440x900 screen when I try to make text too small in the
browser. Check your zoom/text size settings. There is also a general text size setting in
Vista: I think its in Control Panel -> Accessability Settings.

That happens to me when I want bigger, bolder letters (I'm using 1680 x 1050 and my old eyes can't handle those small fonts anymore), I use Ctrl + to make the fonts bigger but when I go Back or Forward, the pages something crumbles together in that weird way...

I would try playing with Ctrl + or Ctrl -

ok I had him do all these things and the only thing he said that made it change was the CTRL - and CTRL +. He says when he does this it pretty much fixes the problem but when he views another web page it right back to the original state. Is there anyway to set this with the control panel so it will be permanent.

yes I did walk him through the reset to default option but nothing happened. Do you guys think it could be his video card. Maybe he should try to do an update driver on it. Just a thought I am still baffeled on this situation but would like to say Thanks for all the help.......

I doubt that updating drivers would affect it. Couldn't hurt though.

I assume he's using IE7?

Have a look at Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Accessibility and see if the "Reset Zoom level to 100% for new Windows has a tick beside it"

It will be something something ridiculously simple once you discover it :)

Has your fathers system got java installed, many sites use it to create their pages, if you can't read it properly, you'll get errors.

Download Java software from Sun Microsystems
