Problems after installing Vista X64

Hi,

before reinstalling everything again, i have some problems with Vista X64. If anyone can help me with these to avoid reinstalling, thanks.

After adding a Gigabyte EP45-DS3R motherboard (not me, a company), following problems occured:

- Windows Update does not work, the only thing i get is a white screen, so no info at all
- Back-up is impossible: Code 28 MUI file problem
- Ras Async Adapter is missing
- Realtec "8169" missing
- cannot alter the computer through my other one, so there is a network. The PC with the new motherboard can see and do everything on the second computer, but i cannot get access to the newer one.

Vista was installed through the company delivering the motherboard.

When i put in the CD to let the computer search for the Ras Async Adapter, nothing is found.

Any solutions? Before i reinstall everything.

Thanks

Jeff

My personal experience with Vista x64 has been that I had to reinstall on a motherboard change. I was going from an Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe WIFI to an Asus M3A79-T Deluxe. Everything seemed to work fine for me except Vista wouldn't recognize all 4 cores of the Phenom. Mine I am sure had more to do with the new processor though.
Did you put the same model board back in or is it a different one?

NO Millerman,

new board, same processor (Extreme 1066 mhz and 800 MHZ memory). Now the board is (i believe) 1600 MHZ, but i hate to change everything.

The seller installed Vista (my CD), but problems (as always) are there
I can reinstall Vista, but hate to do so, since i even cannot open or explore the Gigabyte CD that comes along. Strange.....

When i need the CD and cannot use it....even the drivers the installer downloaded from Gigabyte do not work....

I did not have the "problem computer" for 2 weeks and i just want it to work properly..

My god,

Scrooge....read your reply too late.

What fix do you mean? I see different fixes (overclocking, but overclocking is not my thing), i only need the correct driver.

If the bios, i am sure the installer knew this?

Thanks

Easy enough to find out which bios version your board has. Just grab this,

CPUID

click on the Mainboard tab and it should show version number and date of the bios.

If the bios, i am sure the installer knew this?

Possible, but doubtful.

ok Stormy13, installed the CPUID on my (good ?) computer, but what puzzels me is that:

FSB is set to 333
multiplier is set to 9

BUT, the program gives

FSB 333
multiplier 6

then all of a sudden multiplier turns to 9 (giving CPU 3005 MHZ). But mostly it turns to 6 x 333 = some 2000 MHZ?????

Is this normal?

Thanks
