hi guys,

my computer is given me problems:

in the bios is have put FSB on 333mhz with a multiplier of 9 to get the 3 ghz for the duo core Intel processor.

Now in the bios it says: 333 mhz x9 as a maximum and 333 mhz x6 as a minimum. But when i use CPUID, it almost is working on 333 mhz x6 (2 ghz).

I am not in the possibility to make the 333 mzh x9 LOCKED.

The added book from ASUS claims you can put EIST off, but i do not see or find any EIST. IT is normally in the CPU configuration.....

Even not Speedstep.....to alter this.

So if anyone can tell me how i can make the processor to work ALL DAY at 333 mhz x9......thanks

I guess a first step is to go to the Overclocking Forum at the Vista Forums. http://www.vistax64.com/overclocking-cooling/
They have a wealth of info on overclocking, and some of the people there are absolute geniuses at getting the best out of an overclock. Feel free to ask their advice and for help.

NormCameron,

no, i do not overclock, simply want the computer to stay on 333 MHZ x 9 multiplier, so given 3 ghz all the time.

But thanks

Hi Jeff. You can disable speedstep in the Bios. But, the multiplier of 6 applies only at idle or reduced load. As you increase your load it goes up to 9. This is to reduce the heat and stress on the CPU. I wouldn't worry about it. It does NOT affect your performance and is good for your CPU. What CPU do you have?

Well NormCameron, the duo-core 3 ghz 1333 mhz intel processor.

And no, even in the little book where it says on page A.2.2 where it says to do it in the adanced menu under CPU configuration, well on my board i do not have the option....

Maybe this does not influence performance, but when i leave CPUID on for a while and doing not a heavy load, it stays on 2 ghz and i do not like this. Afterall i bought a 3 ghz.

Thanks

jeff

Well I know, but it's a bit like buying a racehorse and expecting it to run flat out everywhere. It will go fast when it needs to, but not all the time. THats what you bought.

You can disable speedstep as follows
