Vista - "destination folder access denied" on folder/file rename

Ultimate x64 SP1
 
 

"destination folder access denied" on folder/file rename

...on external hard drives. is there a way to take control on the whole drive? (TONS of folders on 2 different drives that i'd like to rename, etc here and there.

Hi BleepingCrazy,

You can try taking ownership of the drive instead of each folder.

thanks Shawn, there was no right-click on the main drive (only on folders within it), so i used the "takeown /f Z:\" method that you mentioned in your tut. took about 20min +/- but still not 100% of the folders were "owned". I had to go in and right click on all the main folders and hit the take own. worked out about the same time in the end (if not quicker)
