Multiple User Accounts affect performance?

Hi, I just wondered if creating multiple user accounts on Windows Vista Home Premium could affect the performance? ie. slow it down?

At the moment i only have one user account, but was going to create another.

Any thoughts?

Re: Multiple User Accounts affect performance?

Hello ds101, and welcome to Vista Forums.

If you only have one user account logged on at a time, then it will not make any difference except for using a little bit more hard drive space.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: Multiple User Accounts affect performance?

Hi ds101, and welcome to the Vista forums

You should not see any performance hit by having more than one user account, however if you have a user active and running applications and then switch to another user (rather than log out) you will see a drain the same as if you were running the programs

hope this helps

Re: Multiple User Accounts affect performance?

I disagree. If you have multiple users on the system, and the HD started getting fragmented due to the activities of the different user, then yes, you will see a performance hit as the drive starts to struggle with the fragmentation.

The good news, though, is that this can be avoided by regularly fragmenting your HD.
