Question for creating a directory file Using Vista Ultimate..

Hello,
I need to create a directory folder. What I need is a main folder with subfolders that pertain to weeks. I'm using Vista Ultimate

Ex: Main Folder- This will be the directory
Week 1- these will be the sub-folders
Week 2-
Week 3-
week 4-
Week 5-
Week 6-

I have never done this before and now I NEED to. It is part of an assignment that has nothing to do with anything other than learning how to do it.I will have to complete the namimg structure myself and since I have a course outline I feel confident I can do that much.I'm just not that familiar with using ANY OS and I'd like it to function as it should and not hurt anything in the process. Obviously,I'm still somewhat of a layman so please consider this when spelling it out for me. I can't thank you enough for any/all of the answers. Mark

What do you mean "I'm just not that familiar with using this OS"

Doing what you want is not "that different" in VISTA than most other OS's. I don't see your problem.

EDIT:

OK, now I see. You don't have experience with ANY OS. That is different.

The others have answered your question. For a while I thought it was April 1st :)

Hi Jumpstreet, welcome to the board,
Let me see if I understand what you mean. Ok, if you like to create those directories under Document; first open Window Explorer, point at Document and right click, select new, select folder then type your folder name and enter. Then, go in to that folder and open all the folders you like and name them week1,2... or what ever and so on. Let me know if this answer your question. Post back.

Hi

Welcome to the forums!

This sounds like simply creating a new folder, and then creating folders within that folder and it's a very simple process.
Simply right click any open area inside the folder/directory where you want this new directory to be in..like in the Documents folder if that's where you want it. You can do this inside of ANY folder, including right in the root of C:, but don't do this in the Windows directory or any sub folder of the Windows folder.

Anyway, just right click an open spot in the folder you want, select New (mouse-over "New" to open sub-menu), then folder. A new folder will be created and the name area will be highlighted Blue. As long as this is blue you can simply start typing the name you want and it will name it. If you accidentally click something and it finishes the folder without name (except "New"), then you right click this folder and select Rename, then type the name.
Once this is created simply dbl click it to open it and repeat this inside that folder to create any number of sub folders within it.

I hope this helped
