BSoD - Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit

I could really use some help fixing these multiple BSoD errors that I have been getting since upgrading to 64-bit.

Can I just locate the dump file somewhere, or do you have to write down that long error number when it happened?

Hello Four20,

Welcome to the forums. Right click 'Computer', Manage, Event Viewer. You could also write down the error number and do a google search for it. Also if you could post the entire error msg. it will help folks here to diagnose.

Hope this is helpful.

Try this

Also test with one RAM ship only, and see what happens.

After googing that error plus windows vista 64-bit it took me to that thread(which I did after posting the error here).

It's a laptop, so I can't reseat the video card. What I did do was switch the ram sticks(the same sticks, just swapping slots).

I haven't had a bsod yet, but that doesn't mean I won't. The errors are sporadic and don't happen when 1 specific thing is going on(so I can't force test it). . .I can just wait it out.

This started happening when I did a fresh install of vista 64bit(becuase I upgraded my ram to 4GB). I thought it was the first ram chips I got, so I ordered two more(corsair) to be sure. Sadly I still get the errors that I did on the initial set. Plus I'm using one of those 2gb sticks(that I first bought) in a brand new hp mini 1000 netbook, and haven't had any bsod yet.

So I think this isn't a ram issue(though I have been fooled before). . .and I would hate to reinstall the OS(that's the other thing that thread suggested).

I hate to put doom and gloom on your situation, but I had a Dell Inspiron laptop only about 2 months old have the motherboard go bad. (the memory module retention slots) I though it only needed RAM since it failed MEMTEST miserably, but they had me send it back and they ended up replacing the motherboard. (I didn't have any spare matching modules around to try before I sent it back)
