Mouse Jumps

My wifes machine, a desktop with a new mother board, has a mouse that jumps once in a while. It is driving my wife (and therefor me) crazy.

I found a solution to this problem once and it did fix it but its back again.

The original solution involved setting some security setting so that Vista did not make some check constantly during mouse movements and keystrokes. I have lost that solution.

Can anyone jog whats left of my mind on this fix?

Regards..... Jim

Re: Mouse Jumps

Now I remember.
You have to turn off Windows Defender real-time protection.
Help | Defender | Tools | Options | real-time options | uncheck

Re: Mouse Jumps

I have mine running as Admin and it helps a bit, Don't have Windows Defender since it conflicts with Bit defender but, from time to time, my G7 mouse will skip a beat (so to speak) for a while and then go away... I have to assume that Vista is running processes in the background at the time but I would love to get to the bottom of it though.

At least you found your answer.
