Vista and Backup and Restore Center

Hi am new to this group!! Have a question about doing backups with Vista. I am using a external hard disk drive over a home network. Every time I start the utility it goes to the hard drive and creates a folder and assigns a long long number as a file name. Then a short time later, I get an error message saying "Cannot create a file when that file already exit (0x800700B7)". I think that it is a Vista problem so I spent 12 hours on an email chat with support personnel and they did not know why this is happening. Any body have anybody have any suggestions. Backing up to DVDs is very time consuming
Thanks
Gene

I do not recommend you use the Vista backup program to backup important files. I did, and was able to backup to my network storage drive but when my computer crashed I was not able to recover my files using my other computers. I recommend you purchase a separate backup program and then test to see if you can restore your backup files using a different computer.
