More RAM lower index score

With Vista x64 I was using 4gb RAM,, 2 x 1gb 667 and 2 x 1gb 800,,, and had an index score of 5.6....,,,

I recently changed the 2 x 1gb 667 with 2 x2gb 800 however my index score has dropped to 5.0,,, can anyone help with an explanation please

Re: More RAM lower index score

Hi JamesT.......

the explanation is the system defaulted ALL sticks to 667mhz with tighter timings with the mixed DIMMs, when you changed the 667 sticks to 800s the timings were loosened.

so your RAM was faster with the lower frequency (according to the WEI)

Go into your BIOS, change the memory speed to 667 and tighten the timings (e.g., from 5-5-5-15 to 4-4-4-12).
