Solved Windows Vista Startup Corrupted

Hello nice to meet you all, i was browsing the web for an answer to this problem and was directed to your forum and was told your the best so here is my problem, windows vista refuses to boot up, i read some articles on startup repair but im unable to use this method due to my non bootable pc, it gets to the screen with the green bar going across then it goes black and stays there, this is the message i get when i dont have the windows vista dvd in the drive

\Windows\System32\Winload.exe

Status: 0xc000000f

The application is not available because it is either missing or corrupted.

ive tried everything that i know, does anyone know another way i can fix this problem?

Do you have a retail Vista disk?

If so boot from that disk and choose the repair my system option

If you do not have the Retail disk you can have a look at this tutorial ...

Which screen can you not get to?

The install disk and the downloadable alternative are bootable disks so do not use the HDD at all so they are not reliant on the damaged vista installation.

to use you must either set your DVD drive to be the first boot drive or use the boot menu option (if available on your PC) to actually boot from the DVD this should then take into a menu which you can choose the correct option

Yes thats what im talking about, when you set your pc to boot from DVD, then when u press a key you get to the region options where u can choose to repair your pc, my pc wont even boot to the region screen at all just stays blank.

This sounds as if you have a corruption (or damage ) on the actual disk which does not make things simple.

You could try cleaning the install disk, (I know you probably have but had to mention it), the only thing I can suggest in this situation is that you try the download of the repair disk in the tutorial.

if the install disk is a MS retail disk you may want to contact MS about replacement media as without a working install disk even a complete re-install will not be possible.

The other option would be to borrow a disk from a friend or colleague and install using that but using your product key

Would a retail disk fix the problem? because mine came with the pc and that surely aint working lol, but if you say a retail disk would fix it i can easily borrow one from a friend and try it.

Hi,
yes the retail disk is a much better option for repair, also as all versions of vista - Home, Home Premium, and ultimate are on the disc as long as you use the key from your PC everything is fine :D

If another disk has trouble booting passed the start screen I would start looking at the drive, but hopefully you should be able to get up and running using the repair options.

Did you get instructions with the machine telling you the method to take it back to factory defaults.

If so that would format your machine and take it back to the way it was when you first bought it.

Another way is if we knew the make of the drive inside your machine, you can get a download from the manufacturer that will test the drive and tell you if it is in good order or if it is going bad.

That's my 2 pence worth :D

I have a Gateway Recovery Disk, but it doesnt seem to load up, even tho my pc is set to boot from DVD, and gateway wont help me because my warranty is up lol. i have a Gateway GT5404

Problem solved, found a nice program online that allowed me to reformat my hard drive, and get my vista back up and running so everything is ok now and thanks to those that gave advice.
