file permissions problems with WMP

Last night (or in the early hours) I changed some of my file permissions like my documents and picture because i didn't want other people accessing them. Only today I go onto my Windows Media player and lots of my songs on my playlist cannot be accessed arghh thery are not working! :( I changed all the permissions back to how I think they were, then even did a system restore to a few days ago but still no luck.
These are all songs from limewire.
Some still work which is really random.
My CD ones still work. :S
But I should still have permission to access them.
Oh I wish I never messed with it now :(
Please help.

Note to self... Don't mess with the permission setting in Vista! ;)

Sorry, bad joke, I know some of the gurus here said that Vista allows for "Undo" but I don't really know where to begin to do that.

I'm bumping the thread so someone can lend a hand.

Hi, xcutezix, and welcome to the forums.

Just a word of advice - try not ot put in a subject for your posts that says "Please help me" - when most of us that are perusing the forums to answer questions, a post like that is somewhat of an anathema - we like to see *exactly* whas it going on in the title so we can easily pick the posts we can answer and go to them directly.

I have edited your subject to better convey your issue.

@AstaLaVista - please don't bump posts, especially those that are only hours old.

Now, xcutezix, please detail exactly how you changed the permissions, *why* you did so, where you got your advice to do so from, and what you did to change it back. I am suspecting that somewhere you wither changed *ownership* of the files, or else that you never chagned the permissions back on all files....

I am really sorry, i didn't realise! sorry.
erm well
i wanted to change permissions because i realised that other users could have access to my files and pictures, documents etc. I knew there was a way you could do it for your personal files so I found out how myself.
i right clicked on the documents icon, properties, security and then edited the permissions to deny all access for the other users, only i did it for everyone including the administrator, the system etc, silly me, i don't know what made me do it really, i was tired. I then realised after it had saved that I needed the administrator access to get into the files myself so i changed everything back to the way it was before where everyone is allowed full access except the guest who is only alllowed to read, execute and list the folder contents.
hope i'm making sense to you.
I then went to bed.
And it wasn't til the next day when going to play my usual windows media playlist that i realised that i couldn't get on to my songs?
The message on windows media says:
Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct.
the songs cannot be accessed by other players either, itunes or limewire.
the thing is i didnt change permissions for my music folder but it may be because alot of my music is stored in document, limewire, saved folder so its in my documents which makes more sense.
The wierd thing aswell is there are still a few songs in the smae folder that i can access, i just compared their permissions with the ones that cant be accessed and they seem to look the same, the owner is the same too :s
it's soo confusing
thankyou
