Vista Explorer View settings...never keep amd search sucks

Things seemed soo much easier in Win XP Pro for me.

1) In the Explorer view on the right side where you can see columns for different catogories and details.
All I want for ALL my folders is to see 3 things
Date Modified
Size
File Type

In using the search it fails to correctly see what I am looking for.
Example.
I have a folder on a different drive letter (other then C drive) that is a internal drive that I can access say drive "G" and search for something I know is there "Phil Keaggy" I do a search for Keaggy and it returns zero ....No items found ....
Yet I know there the folder is with dozens of files with "Keaggy" in part of the name of each.
I try another search for something else and it immediatly goes to search results for drive "G" even when I try to foce it on the Base of the G drive.

Is there anyway to bring back the little seach doggie?

Hello Gumby,

You may need to adjust your Search Options for a better search result to also include "partial matches". The Advanced Search tutorial may help some more with this as well.

You can use Method Two in this tutorial to reset your folder view settings. Afterwards, change the columns to how you want them in Option One of this tutorial and do the TIP box at the end of that tutorial to apply it to all of the folde templates.

The only drawback is that in Vista, the folder size is not displayed in the column anymore. For more about this, see this tutorial.

Sorry no way to bring back the doggie though. :(

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thanks again for the help.

Well I set the folders in Windows Explorer as it showed in Method 1 but didn't do it in the control panel, so will try that first. And if that fails then I will try the easy manual 31 step fix.... when I have some more time.
