Sorry, but your bus DOES NOT run through your CMOS battery. This battery provides 24/7 power to the CMOS memory (typically, part of the south bridge chip on many motherboards) where customized BIOS settings are stored - the default settings being programmed into the BIOS itself. In actual fact, your PC does not need this battery as it will still work without it. All you would need to do is to manually enter your configuration settings every time you start your computer from a powered down condition. Many BIOSes can detect this, and prompt you to check the settings if it detects a failing or failed/missing battery. Incidentally, briefly removing this battery for around 30 seconds to 1 minute is a good way of resetting the BIOS to its default.
