Window Media Player 11 Now Playing List

Hi everyone,

Im having problems with Windows Media player 11. Basically, when I select a album or list of songs to play, they are nto shown anywhere within Windows Media Player 11. The only thing I see is a blank screen when i open WMP11, and when i play songs I just get the visualisation - no album informtation or anything.

How can I resolve this issue. I have been through every option I can think of but can't find anything.

In the now playing view top item on the menu "show list pane" when selected should display current playlist

Hi DannyT,

You are in skin mode which, (in that particular skin anyway), does not have a playlist option.

If you press Ctrl-1 you should switch to full mode which provides the options I showed in the Screenshot in the earlier post.

Doesn't work at all for some reason. Tried Ctrl + 1 pluss the full mode button but nothing happens. Just stays in the same view as above. Im doing this as a track is playing, thats right isn't it?

Appreciate your help so far! :)

Try the button in the top-left of the Visualization (not the main X - underneath). I think that's a "return to full mode" button.. ?

Edit: perhaps I should learn to read...

Try this:

From a Run prompt, or in the search bar, type "wmplayer /Task MediaLibrary" and click Run. That should open Media Player on the Library tab.

Not sure if this will get rid of the skin mode, though.

Have had time to try the Media player in Vista again, ( have been on the Beta for Windows 7 a lot recently so not been able to play with WMP11 much :geek: )

these are the options for me

These options work if playing or not...

CTRL-1 Switch to full mode from Skin mode
CTRL-2 Switch to Skin Mode from full mode

View menu entry, Top item - Full Mode - switch to Full mode

Right click on the player (except for visualisation and menu bar - select "Switch to Full Mode - Switches to full mode from skinned mode

Have tried all this with MS and 3rd party visualisations running - works fine :confused:

Don't know why you are not switching :(

You may want to try a System file check in case a system files has become corrupted and that is stopping the change

I searched the net and found this - Re: WMP11 Stuck in "Compact Mode" - it seems something may have gone dicey with your profile. A SFC scan *may* help - but it may not.

The good news is that you can easily create a new 'test' user and see if it occurs there as well - then we'll know if it is profile based or machine based.

Hi danny,

I've just noticed that you're running Vista Enterprise, and it has me thinking ( often a dangerous thing :) ). It may be that the media player that ships with Enterprise is some how locked in the Corporate mode, The reason I say this is that the Home and Business, (on which enterprise is based), differ in what they provide the user.

Can you confirm that tthe media player was shipped with the OS - Nowhere on MS does it mention wmp and enterprise?
