| Windows Vista™ Home Premium | Re: Control Panel menus closing right after being opened Hello AJ001, Welcome to Vista Forums! I would suggest running a virus scan, spyware scan, and malware scan. This type of problem seems to be comonly associated with those type of infections. Hope this helps, Ben |

| 32 bit home premium | Re: Control Panel menus closing right after being opened Thanks. I ran McAfee and windows defender but neither of them came up with anything... I'm gonna try to get my hands on adAware and scan with that |

| Windows Vista™ Home Premium | Re: Control Panel menus closing right after being opened AJ001, I have read that Macafee isnot the greatest program. If you like it then that is completely your choice. But here is what i suggest. If you are good with computers(and be honest with yourself), use comodo internet security. I has a built in firewall which blows windows firewall out of the water. Also has a great anti-virus scanner. If you are not then you should download Avast! home edition. This was my previous AV and it works just as well but there is no firewall and is ment for more basic users(my opinion, no offense to anyone but comodo is much more advances then Avast). Also, try scans with MalwareBytes and Spybot S+D(all 4 programs can be found in brinks FREE Software Thread Free Software List for Vista Once again that is what I would do. Hope this helps, Ben |

| Vista Ultimate SP2 x64 Windows 7 Ultimate x64 TECHNET | Re: Control Panel menus closing right after being opened Hi Aj011, I would suggest that you schedule a boot time scan with avast. Open avast and in the top left corner click on the settings icon. click on scedule boot time scan. click it and check archived files as well. restart your computer and let it run. WHen it prompts you to take an action for a virus then try to delete it if possible or put in quarantine. You may have only one virus or many as it will prompt you every time it finds something. Just let it run thru and when it's finished it will restart your comp. It's usually good to have only one major Antivirus program installed on your machine. More than that and you can have conflicting problems. You can have one or more antispyware/adware programs installed as well without any problems. Some good ones are Malwarebytes Anti malware and A Squared Free but there are others, it's your choice. If your problem persists after your scan you can run System File Checker and Checkdisk. System Files - SFC Command Check Disk - chkdsk Just some simple suggestions |
