Hello all,

I explored my Event Viewer for the first time and noticed 1,000's of errors on it. I have no idea what that means. Can anyone please explain this for me and steps I can do to do what ever I should?

I'm thinking about calling HP support and have them look at it.

SIR VORTEX USA<--says thank you.;)

It depends really on what those errors are, their severity, and in which particular log they are in.

Perhaps if you where to point out some of those errors, we could help fix it, or put your mind at rest by telling you to ignore it.

You can give us more information like this:
  1. Right-click on the particular event log entry, then select "Event Properties"
  2. Click "Copy"
  3. Click "Close"
  4. Now either Paste the results into a new post here, or paste them into a Notepad Text file an then attach that to a new post.
When we see what the error log says, we can give more details.
Needless to say, my own Event Log has it's own share of error entries, as I guess all other users will be too.

It's pretty normal Sir Vortex. Even right after a clean install you will have numerous errors and warnings in the event viewer. You can always generate a system health report and see what that gives you if you're worried about it. Or run checkdisk and see if it fixes any errors for you. :D

To run a health report go to Start Menu-Control Panel-Performance Information and Tools-Advanced Tools in upper left corner-Generate System Health Report at bottom.

You can schedule a Checkdisk at bootup by going to Start Menu-Computer-right click on your Hard drive and go to properties-go to Tools tab and Error Checking is at top-click check now-you can check both options, Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. If you reboot it will start at boot up and it will take quite a long time to complete if you check both items. This will probably not fix your errors and warnings in the event viewer but if you have damaged files on your disk it can help. :D

I did the first test and got all good except for disc space on D it's at 14% I guess that's for back up and where they put it. I have my hard drive which is 750 GB a seta divided. On C it has 587 GB free. So that's good.

When you say on the second test it could take along time, please give me appox. time in hours so I can plan on doing that. I don't think any files are damaged but if you can read my other post on freezing.. on page 5.

Others are having minor problems freezing on the COD WW game to so I think we just need another patch for that game and it should be out soon.

SVUSA <--says you guys are great, wish I could buy you a drink.

Well yeah, if you're having problems with your gaming then it could just need a patch or your current graphics card can't handle it, I just don't know. If your hard drive is 750 GB then it's going to take a looong time, lol. To give you an example mine is 320 GB and it takes almost two hours to go thru the whole scan. Maybe it's something you could do overnight if you wanted to, you can always cancel it in process if you had to.

Read my systems specs.. GeForce 9800GT second generation. That will handle anything out there.

Yes on overnight to do that test but PC is 3 months old so it should be fine. System works fantastic excluding that darn freeze on CODWW... once in awhile it will lock up surfing some stuff. But control alt. delite takes it to log off. I guess all PC's will have a lock up or freeze problem from time to time. Once again thank you. You helped more than you know and scales are clicked on my friend.

Yeah, I mean you don't have to do that check, it's just an option if you want. I've had it fix problems for me in the past. And sure, sometimes things lock up from time to time.
You're welcome SVUSA. Glad I could offer some suggestions to you.
