Vista - Primary Monitor will not always come out of sleep mode.

My Gateweay with a 8800GT, Vista 32 bit and with dual 21" dell monitors sometimes after sleep the primary monitor will not wake up (the other monitor well) or sometimes the screen has a bit of graphical noise. If I reset the resolution all is ok (until the next time). This started about 2 months ago. I know it is not the monitors because I switched them.

Now my new Acer with an 9800 GT, Vista 64bit with 2 Samsung 24" monitors is doing the exact same thing. I highly doubt I have 2 problem video cards so it must be a driver issue.

Any ideas, I now have the latest Nvidia drivers installed...

Since it is on two different machines with (presumably) different hardware, the only thing that is in common is the user - you.

I'd take a good look at what you are doing on the machines and what programs you have installed - I am betting that it is likely either your environment or else it is your programs causing this.

I have been using dual monitors for going on 5 years now and never had an issue where a monitor would not wake up and it was not the video card or the monitor. But it is far too coincidental that both your machines are doing the same thing.
