Vista Ultimate 32-bit SP1.
Autoplay/autorun doesn't!!
Autoplay is set ON and I've reset to defaults. I've googled and done everything I can find to fix, but nothing does.
The only thing I couldn't find was a "Data" item in Microsoft's page:-
The Restrict CD-ROM access to locally logged on user only option might be turned off. To turn this option on, follow these steps:
Microsoft's autofix.exe crashes in Vista.
Flash drives don't bring up anything, but are found with explorer.
Music & DVDs just sit there. If I use explorer to explore, they'll spin and let me view.
I've run out of ideas.
What else can I try?

- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
- In the navigation pane, under Data, if the value for allocatecdroms is 0, go to step 5.
- In the navigation pane, under Data, if the value for allocatecdroms is 1, right-clickallocatecdroms, and then click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.
- Test to determine whether the issue is resolved.
