| Windows Home Premium 64 | Change Read Only attribute Hi all, I'm new here so please excuse me if I'm posting incorrectly.. I have a laptop that came with vista home premium and I'm more familiar with the XP Pro environment. When I try to change the read only attribute in vista it won't allow me to. Is this Hidden admin account the only way to change access rights? Thanks for any clarification you might offer. Ted |

Ted You could always change the attributes via a command line from an elevated command prompt. Command line = attrib "file" +r +r will add the read only and -r will remove it |

| Windows Home Premium 64 | Re: Change Read Only attribute Thanks Fmjc001, I will keep this route in mind. I went ahead and set up the hidden admin acount and with a password. It took me awile to get the "Elevated" cmd window to show as admin but once that was done everthing went fine. Thank you for your assistance. The tutorials worked fine once I followed them correctly.
