I have had my new computer for about three months and around three weeks ago I did a system restore due to some system errors. After everything was fine for about a week but the slowly more error messages have begun to pop up.I tried to do another system restore but shadow copy service doesn't work.Control panel will not appear when I click on it and event view initializes but suddenly dissapears.core cell center doesn't work and windows installer isn't working either.most of my games don't work and the ones that do work for 15 minutes then I get an error message.I've run several virus scans and nothing appears but two days ago avg scanner has stopped working also.I've searched the forums and have found little help any suggestions?

sfc was one of the first things I tried and I tried to reinstall vista but I get a message that says an error occured. To reinstall do I need to reformat the drive because Ive tried installing while running vista to try and fix the problems(without reformat.

Hello uknownerror, and welcome to Vista Forums.

At this point, I would say a clean reinstall of Vista would probably be best to resolve this. :(

Sorry,
Shawn

hi UE,

As Shawn suggested a reinstallation might be the easiest way to go. It sounds as if your installation might be a bit too far gone for repair.

Having said that, have you tried using your Vista disk to perform a repair?

Run SFC /SCANNOW at the command prompt as administrator?

It's unlikely that it will help, but at this stage it can't hurt to try.

Back up what you can while you can ;)

Re: help needed desperate!!

Som non-system application & services cause this

1.Run computer in safe mode-in safe mode you shouldn't have trouble
2.Navigate to Event Viewer (Start>>Search>>eventvwr.msc)
and go to Application and System section and find errors messages which concern rundll32.exe,check also Problem reports and Solutuions in Control Panel
3. You can also try How to perform a clean boot procedure to determine whether background programs are interfering with a game or a program that you currently use
