TrustedInstaller.exe

Hey guys, i "accidentaly" deleted TrustedInstaller.exe from C:\Windows\servicing

Now i cannot update anything. Is it possible to upload it somewhere to try replacing the missing file in the dir?

Hello Nicandris, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You might see if running a sfc /scannow command can fix this problem for you. If not, then you can do a System Restore using a restore point dated before you deleted the file by mistake.

C:\Users\nicandris>sfc /scannow

Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.

Use the Vista DVD to run it.

well i tried the Vista DVD but still no luck. the same message. I tried contacting ms, but the "expert" gave me an "expert" solution

I reinstalled Vista and this time created a backup JUST IN CASE!

*and* hopefully you've learned a valuable lesson about triple and quintuple checking before deleting *anything* out of C:\Windows and its subdirectories....
