Solved Remove item from Auto Play menu

Hi,

I have removed Power DVD, I have also removed registry entries. But on the Auto Play option its still showing but its invaild is there anyway to remove it from the list?

Yep I did, but its still left behind entries have gone into the registry and removed all Cyberlink stuff but its still showing. Do you know of any removal tool that will clear all the entries left behind with Cyberlink?

None that I know of.

You might also search the registry for Power DVD, PowerDVD, and the name of the Power DVD exe file to see if any of those are found as well.

Thanks for your replies,

I can't seem to find any other keys in the registry but will keep looking, I keep running Wise Registry Cleaner that finds invaild entries but nothing to do with Cyberlink Power DVD. Any more ideas or to remove it from the Auto Play Menu?

Thanks for your reply.

However the tool did not work, its still showing. I decided to leave the registry a lone as I don't really like missing around with it.

I have attached a picture of the problem.

I take it that the only remainders will be in the registry somwhere? Is there any other programs that I can try?

Wizkid,

You might give the free Wise Registry Cleaner a try to see if it can find the invalid entry and remove it for you.

If you can't get the entry and all other registry entries out after using those cleaners and that tutorial then you're probably going to be stuck with it there.

I agree with Aaron.

You might see if reinstalling it, then uninstalling it Safe Mode may help. Perhaps part of the uninstaller was corrupted and reinstalling it will fix it.

No luck after a reinstall. Guess that I will just have to leave it there and the only other way to remove it is to reinstall vista?

You can just make sure that item is not selected as a default action in Auto Play for now I suppose.

There is another location in the Registry that pertains to this. The code (and file) below is the default content of this location. The easiest way of replacing this data is to delete the appropriate key AutoplayHandlers in the registry and then replace it using the file given below. The address of this entry in the registry is shown in the image below.
