| Vista Business x64 | "The pack name is invalid..." - Disk Management Issue Howdy folks ![]() I'm stuck in a bit of a weird situation here that I have no idea how to fix. I just bought and installed a new hard drive for the purpose of doing a RAID 0 configuration with my old drive. The BIOS picks up the new hard drive perfectly, and it's being recognised in Disk Management. See, the pickle here is when I try to convert my Disks from Basic to Dynamic, I get this little epitome of frustration: ![]() ...HELP! ![]() Google's not co-operating with me on this one, I can't find a single relevant article. Is there any way to change the ever elusive 'pack name'? Anything even slightly relevant will be a relief to read by comparison, so don't hesitate to recommend anything. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 MAK, OpenSolaris 5, Gentoo 2008.1.... | Re: "The pack name is invalid..." - Disk Management Issue Hi, Modus Operandom, and welcome to the forums. You say convert it to RAID - but I am puzzled as to why on earth would you try to do that in Disk Management? Are you attempting to use Software based RAID? |

| vista ultimate x64 | Re: "The pack name is invalid..." - Disk Management Issue I receive this message also, I get it when trying to import a foreign dynamic disk in disk manager. Can anyone tell me what this means? don't want to have to convert to basic disk. |

| Vista Home Premium x64 | Re: "The pack name is invalid..." - Disk Management Issue why use raid anyway? are you running a home server with several HD's connected? theres no real performance gain from raid anyways. |
