| Vista Ultimate x64 | Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed Hello to all! 2 weeks ago I've installed fresh new copy of Vista x64 ultimate sp1 and downloaded all critical updates. From time to time I got BSODs randomly + windows continues to spam me with message error message "Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed" - in event log it appeares as "Faulting application svchost.exe_iphlpsvc, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x47919291, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791adec, exception code 0xc0000374, fault offset 0x00000000000a6e97, process id 0xde8, application start time 0x01c965d5d7c709ab." After getting this message my window appearance changes for aero to half-aero-half-classic style and language icon diappeares from taskbar (and hotkey alt+shift stoppes wirking too - can't swich from default language ). I've tried to chnage language bar settings from Control Panel (Floating/Docked/Hidden) does nothing. Only restart brings things to normal, but after unpredictable period of time it happens again .Any suggestions? _______________________________________________________________________ Hardware: intel core2 8400, MSI P7N SLI Platinum, 4Gb RAM, 2x500GB hd RAID0, Gigabyte NX96T1GHP. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 MAK, OpenSolaris 5, Gentoo 2008.1.... | Re: Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed Hi, Artem, and welcome to the forums. My first suggestion - get a good AV program and also get Malwarebytes.org and scan your computer *thoroughly* - as in don't do a fast, lite scan - perform Thorough, complete scans in each case. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed Thank you, Johngalt. I have Avast! Home antivirus. In addition I've recently scanned my PC with Spybot Search and Destroy and it found only few suspicious cookies. In any case, I'll do as you offer, maybe it should help . |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed Hi all! I've found a solution - how to restore system state back to normal without restart: 1) Services -> Restart "Themes" service : this will restore aero stryle. 2) Run -> ctfmon.exe : this should bring back to life language bar. Regards! |

| ultimate | Re: Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed I was having the same problem and also was having a problem with HP software. The host process message would happen after the PC went to sleep. The HP "solution center" software would loose the printer. I suspect that they are related. I did find a patch on the HP support site Critical update to prevent unexpected printer uninstall 09-2007 link to the patch Select software and drivers* I have not had the Host process problem nor am I losing the printer config anymore. I can't prove they are related but it sure seems to be. Do you have an HP all in one installed on the network. If so try the patch... |
