Restricting user access ?

Is there a way to turn off access to the Control Panel by secondary user accounts ? My kids keep getting in there and changing things, I'd like to put a stop to this.

TIA

Re: Restricting user access ?

Utilize your parental controls feature.

Control panel > user accounts > manage another accounts > Additional things you can do ...here you set up parental controls. Do not skip Family options options

Hi ragtop69gs and welcome to Vista Forums

Have a look at the following Tutorial: Control Panel - Enable or Disable

I suggest that you download and save both of the provided files and save them to a USB memory stick that you have full control of. You can then enable and disable this feature as and when you need to by running the two files from this stick. Don't copy or download these files onto the computer itself as it is possible for your kids to circumvent this restriction if they get hold of these files.

Hence, Parental Controls. A lot easier to restrict *their* interfaces rather than having to remember to enable it / disable it every time.

Re: Restricting user access ?

Besides, Parental Controls allow you to do a whole lot more. Any parent with Vista should be utilizing the feature to it's fullest potential.

There is not enough emphasis put on this very valuable feature in vista.

That is not to say it doesn't have some issues. But over all there are some pretty powerful features that are very useful.
