Password/username incorrect on boot up?

Some background first.
I had had a problem with my original Vista acct. I lost access to the C drive. Done by my naive fiddling around with permissions while in a shortcut to OS(C). A computer guru tried to get the drive back, but I think he felt that although he got c drive back, it didn't go well. He then set up my "real" admin account and a third regular acct. He then suggested that I transfer docs, pics, etc from the first acct into the new regular acct. This proved a little daunting to me and I was lazy about having to do all this transferring of files and folders and retweaking things again. Particularly so when the original acct got back the c drive. So, I went back to using the "fixed" original acct. There is an assigned password to this original acct, whereas there are no PWs assinged to my other regular acct or the admin acct.

Problem
When booting up, I get an "Incorrect Password." I enter the pw for the "fixed" acct and it opens. Going to Start>switch accts is no problem as the other two accts are easily opened without pws. How do I (1) Get rid of this annoyning prompt? (2) Give pws to my other two accts? I am nominally computer savvy, but working with Vista and accts and permissions has been a set back for me, so a little more explanatory detail in you helpful reply is appreicated.

The easiest way is to turn UAC off...but not recommendable.

I think you need to leave the built in Administrator alone but if you had empowered him with PW, remove it. (you can do this in safe mode).

Then let your other administrator's (the one you created) PW be the PW on the prompter. Because when you just want to surf, you must use the standard user. Use the moderator's user when you are all set to do major tweakings. This way you do not need to boot in safe mode just to access built in administrator.

But you should keep UAC on. It is good for tweaker happy users like us.

Pssst...use minmum digits on password for easier prompter compliance.

Or you can just change the created adm's PW to same password you gave the built in adm.

So, here's the present deal. I need to make sure that the apples go with the apples, I'm confused about where the built in admin acct fits in. The way I see it: I've got one created full admin acct (which you call created, and the two regular accts (one is the "fixed" original acct that I am again using, and the other is a new acct-not having full admin rights-into which I probably should transfer stuff from the "fixed" acct) are what you are calling built in admin accts. As things now stand, the "fixed" and the full admin acct each have their individual pw's. Do "standard" and "moderator" and "built in" accts equate to my regular accts? If so, which is which? Obviously, I'm not sure which is which. However, I do believe that my newly created full admin acct is the one you say I should use for tweaking...right.

Any account can tweak: Those with administrator privileges do not have to type PW on prompter. Your built in Adm. is accessible to you only in safe mode. You do not want to have to boot in safe mode just to have Adm. powers...that's why you created one that you can access in regular boot, and which you can easily switch to and fro with the standard user.

Standard user is for non-tweaking computing because it is safer to navigate the internet with an account that is not empowered with adm. privs...so that interceptors/intruders (hijackers and malwares )would not inherit such privs. In regular surfing that may need one or two tweakings now and then, just stay with standard user and just type in the adm. PW when UAC nags, otherwise switch to adm. user for heavy tweakings to avoid being nagged by UAC.

Use no more than 4 digit pw for easy compliance with the nag.

I use any adm. user in safe mode for heavy major tweakings where laborious tweakings seem to run faster...when feasible. Some cannot be done in safe mode.

And since you have created an Adm. user, remove password from the built in guy so you won't have to remember too many PW's..
