| Vista 32bit | interactive services detection dialog box Hi guys, I have a persistent box popping up every four minutes that is entitled 'Interactive services dialog detection' and which says 'A program can't display a message on your desktop', but gives no means of dispensing with it. It happened after I tried opening Lavasoft's Ad Aware program. Never seen this before. Any suggestions on how to kick it out? Thanks Bruce |

It happened after I tried opening Lavasoft's Ad Aware program. Never seen this before. Any suggestions on how to kick it out? Thanks Bruce Hi Breker, This may be caused by a virus. I would suggest you run a through malware scan with an Antivirus program, if you do not have one, Avast Home is free and pretty good. Run a boot time scan and a normal scan after you're all booted up. Some free antispyware programs that are good are Malwarebytes, Spybot SD, Superantispyware. If avast finds nothing, run one of these programs to be sure. It may not be malware, just a program compatibility issue. Here is another post that is on the same subject. Do i have a virus?? "Interactive services dialog detection" If you just think it's Ad aware causing this, try running it in compatibility mode or as an administrator to see if it stops. Just right click on the program and click properties-compatibility tab-check run this program in compatibility mode. But I do not think this is the case. |

| Vista 32bit | Re: interactive services detection dialog box Hi Airbot, Thanks, much appreciated. Nod 32 antivrus runs permanently on my system and didn't pick up anything. I also ran Spybot and it didn't pick up anything either. I've done what you suggest, but it's still there. Looks like a program compatibility issue but you'd think Microsoft would give one the option of preventing its reappearance. I'll investigate the link. thanks again Bruce |

| Vista Ultimate x64 MAK, OpenSolaris 5, Gentoo 2008.1.... | Re: interactive services detection dialog box More than likely Ad-Aware's Service is attempting to start and is not running well with W7, hence the error message... Once you have run Ad-Aware, the service will kep trying to start itself, hence the repeats. |
