I recently reinstalled Vista. Everything is restored, reinstalled, and reconfigured except for one item I have never seen before. My notification tray has an icon for Media Management services. Can anyone tell me just what this is? I can't find any reference in my Vista for Dummies, in any of my services in Control Panel, in Help, or in the tutuorials. It has a big red 'X' through it. If it has anything to do with Windows Media Center, please let me know how to get rid of it since this is an application I won't touch with a ten foot pole.

Hello Powell,

Doing a bit of looking on Google, it looks like it is part of a Roxio program (Easy Media Creator?). If you have a OEM Vista version, then it most likely came with it as part of the bundled programs from the OEM. I believe the red X indicates that you do not have a media device (ex: MP3 player) connected to your computer.

If you do not want this, you should be able to uninstall the listed Roxio program in Programs and Features.
