| Vista Home Basic x64 | How Can I Delete an Old Backup? Hi: I use an external hard drive for backups, and I back up once a week. One of the old backups allows the restoration of a document that I want permanently deleted from my system. I wanted to delete the backup for that date to eliminate that possibility, and I deleted the backup's folder in the external hard drive (disk F , but Vista's "Backup and Restore Center" still allows the backup for that date and the restoration of the file I want permanently deleted. I can't find the backup's folder in Windows. How can I delete the old backup from Vista's "Backup and Restore Center"? If that's not possible, how can I prevent the restoration of the file I want permanently deleted? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Last edited by trp7839; 01-02-2009 at 03:34 AM.. Back Up Files - Reset Last Backup Listing Backup Files If you can get access to the backup files, why not just delete the file that you do not want anymore instead of the whole backup? It may just show the old backup listing , but if you deleted it then it shouldn't be there anymore. |

| Vista Home Basic x64 | Re: How Can I Delete an Old Backup? Thanks for your reply. Deleting the file in the backup on F: is what I should have done in the first place. At the time I didn't realize that I was merely deleting the backup from the list, not the backup files themselves. Now the problem is that I can't access the file to delete it, because I deleted the folder from the backup list. Vista's Backup can still restore it. I ran the program to reset the last backup you included in your reply, but the last backup is still missing. Any suggestions on how to delete the file? |
