Vista - Deleting folder from Desktop.

I like to keep my Desktop nice and tidy with only a minimal number of icons.
Today I then created a folder to contain shortcuts to my games. That worked fine but suddenly I now have a folder on the DT called "Start menu". I cannot drag it to the Recycle bin, when I try I get a little icon with a red circle with a red line through it. Nor can I delete it by right-clicking it or by clicking on it and then pressing Delete.

It look awful and actually doesn´t help with anything so I would really appreciate getting rid of it.

You can try right clicking on it and go to properties-security and see what can be done. See if it says Unblock anywhere. Try to do it in safe mode maybe. You can use a dock program for all your icons instead of a folder if you wanted. Like Rocketdock.

try UNLOCKER,it is a free exe.......unlocker installs itself to the right click menu of files,folders,pics etc,just right click on what you can`t delete & click on UNLOCKER, i think it is a terrific little friend .......
