I wanted to change the default setting for indexing of the start menu, tring to speed the computer. I logged in on a regular account, was able to get to the index menu. I was asked for a administrator password, which I supplied. I attempted to make the changes but was told that an error had ocurred and that the changes could not be made. Can anyone help? I have 64bit Home premium.

I'm guessing you want to turn off Indexing completely? Although I do not recommend this, follow the procedures in this tutorial : http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/69564-index-enable-disable.html
