Complete wipe of files, and installed XP on 64 bit vista

I do not know much about computers, but last Monday my brother decided to "downgrade" my laptop from windows vista to XP. Now, my computer is missing some of its drivers, and because it didn't come with any discs, I have no idea how to reinstall Vista back without buying the $100+ installation package.
I was running Vista 64-bit, I've tried the
Drive:\Boot\ Bootsect.exe –NT60 All and all it does is give me incorrect file path, etc.
I honestly don't know much about computers, but I'd like to know if there's any way of getting back to Vista 64-bit without buying / contacting Gateway about this.

Thanks.

Hell RccTopher, and welcome to Vista Forums.

If you still have you OEM Recovery partition on the hard drive with Vista, then you can use it to reinstall Vista with to factory default.

This link from Gateway will help show you how to.

Gateway Support - Full Factory Recovery

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Unfortunately, I've already tried doing this, as I cannot even find the first part "Repair your computer."
Everything is XP, it's completely reformatted. I honesty don't know why he did it, but my laptop is basically useless to me, and I just got it a week ago.
Thanks

It sounds as if he may have deleted the recovery partition on the laptop when he installed XP since you do not have the "Repair..." option.

Did your computer come with any Vista recovery disks by chance?

If not, then you might see if you can download a recovery disk copy from Gateway here:

gateway recovery cd disk - CD & Download Versions Available

If not, then you might contact Gateway to see if you can order a replacement recovery CD/DVD since you still have your product key number for Vista on the bottom of the laptop. You may be able to get it at a low price.

Well, RccTopher, you can borrow an OS installation disk from a friend and use the product key on the back of you computer. Another option is return it for a new one or ask you brother to pick up the bill.
