Copy photos to cd

I have a Toshiba Satelite (T2400) A105-S4134 laptop with 1.99 GB of Ram and I have never been able to highlight photos and copy them to a cd. Media Center Edition 2002. My cd drive and dvd drive are the same. I have never made a dvd either. I can copy to my memory sticks just fine. I am wondering if I have to set up my cd drive before I can use it? I have been able to make music cds, just can't copy photos. Any help would be appreciated. I am working with windows XP system and I bought my computer in Nov 2006. This is my first post. I have never had trouble doing this function with any of my other desktop computers. And where do I find my vista specs? I just guessed what mine was, it was not under system properties in my Control Panel.

I wouldn't expect you to need to set up your CD drive in any particular way, but would expect it to have come with some pre-loaded software to allow you to copy files to CD.

What software do you use to make music CDs? I use Nero and this allows me to create both music and data CDs, but typically laptops that come with a burner will have some sort of pre-loaded application. Quite often these come from the manufucturer itself (so the program might be called "Toshiba such-and-such") so it might be worthwhile just checking your Programs folder to see anything that might be labelled in such a way

Also, you mention both XP and Vista. What OS are you actually using?

I feel so stupid, I didn't realize that OS meant Operating System. I am only on XP at the moment and will be upgrading to Vista. Was a bit leary to upgrade and find everything changed on my desk top. I have been told that the first versions were hard to get used to because of too many changes. I use Sonic to record music.

Is that Sonic RecordNow or something like that? You should be able to use the same thing to copy files (any files ... photos included) onto CD

From memory there are some options in the top right hand corner that lets you select what type of thing you want to do (music, files, maybe some other options)

Hi kowgal,

If your burning software doesn't seem to be working for you, you may like to try a couple of popular free alternatives :

Totally Free Burner, 100% Free CD DVD Burning Software

CDBurnerXP: Downloads.

There is a new Windows operating system coming out called Windows Seven. It will probably be available as a public beta in a few days, and on sale before next Christmas.

Hope it helps

Copying Photos to DVD/CD.

In Vista, copying Photo Files to a DVD or CD is a very simple process........It's just a matter of drag and drop from one folder to another.

*
Place the DVD or CD into the Slot or Tray [depends on your system] DVD/CD Drive, and close.

**Then open Windows Explorer for the DVD/CD Drive [mine is (E:/], and format the DVD/CD to your choice [You will be prompted for this].

***
Open Windows Explorer for 'My Photograph Files'. Left click and hold any Folder, File or Photo, and then drag it across to the empty (?:/) Drive Folder.

****Release Left Click, and the Folder etc will load onto the DVD/CD.

*****
When finished, Right Click an empty space in the (?:/) Drive Folder and select 'Eject' from the Drop-down Menu. The Drive will close the session and should automatically eject the DVD/CD at the finish........ That's it.

Your 'My Systems Specs'

It will also help the helper " :geek: !!", if you just take a couple of minutes to read the Post info in the link at the bottom of my page, and then go to your User CP [Control Panel - click on CP in bar at top of page] to put as much detail into your 'My System Specs', as you possibly can. It sure saves typing it out over and over again when you need assistance, and will often mean a quicker reply from the 'helpers'......" :geek: :sleepy:  :geek:  !!!!"....Weird bunch that they are.

Your 'Little Helper' - Vista Forums SysInfo Tool.

You can access your system information quite easily, by downloading an extremely useful tool from Vista Forums>Tutorials>Software. With this tool, you'll be able to find most of the information for your ' My System Specs' input. Access the tool here, and just follow the simple instructions for downloading;

VistaForums SysInfo Tool

I downloaded mine to the Desktop, where it sits, ready for use in any situation. However, thanks must go to Shao 128 and dmex for giving us the use of this great little number.

All Vista Forums Information.....FAQs.
The best method to find information about anything in this Vista Forum, is to just click on FAQ in the bar at the top of each page. You'll find this to be one of the best Forum resources, and the amount of detail in FAQs is well presented and easily read.

Any Problems in setting up? Just ask.

Enjoy your stay Mate. :D Cheers. sassofalco
