What bad, bad,habit?
Vista Guru
Recently while in the process of trying without success, to reset my Vista Reliability Scores on my Laptop, I have noticed another issue which is rather perplexing and has me confused .

When I opened Windows Explorer to navigate to the Reliability Monitor via the recommended path; C:\Program Data\Microsoft\RAC, and then in turn to the Published Data and State Data Folders, this course of events happened.

Note the change of Folder Header Lists that happens throughout the navigation process;

Click on Start>Computer

Folder Error - Computer .JPG
This appears to have opened to 'normal' Folder Heading List settings.

Computer - C:
Folder Error - Computer-C.JPG
This has opened with Folder Heading List settings for Photo Files??

Computer - C:\Program Data
Folder Error - Computer-C-Program Data.JPG
This too has opened with Folder Heading List settings for Photo Files??

Computer - C:\Program Data\Microsoft
Folder Error - Computer-C-Program Data-Microsoft.JPG
Again, this has also opened with Folder Heading List settings for Photo Files??

Computer - C:\Program Data\Microsoft\RAC
Folder Error - Computer-C-Program Data-Microsoft-RAC.JPG
However, this has opened with Folder Heading List settings for Music Files??

Computer - C:\Program Data\Microsoft\RAC\Published Data
Folder Error - Computer-C-Program Data-Microsoft-RAC-Published Data.JPG
Then this has reverted and opened with Folder Heading List settings back to
Photo Files???

Computer - C:\Program Data\Microsoft\RAC\State Data
Folder Error - Computer-C-Program Data-Microsoft-RAC-State Data.JPG
And finally, yet another change as this opens with Folder Heading List settings
as Music Files again.

This random changeover from one type of Folder settings to another, and from one step to the next, has really got me beat. I have no idea on how to correct this.

Any advice and suggestions volunteered, will be much appreciated.

Cheers. sassofalco

Hi Tony,

I would recommend to just reset the folder view settings using Method Two in this tutorial below. Afterwards, Vista should remember your folder view settings for the window for when it was last closed at that file path location.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
