Hi hahallur and welcome to Vista Forums
To correct this, right click a blank spot on the task bar and select Properties. You can also do this by right clicking on the Start Orb and clicking on Properties from there. Either way will bring up this dialogue box:
Click the Start Menu tab.
Click Customize...
Click on Use Default Settings and then click OK twice to exit the dialogues.

I'm glad that you have solved your problem, hahallur.
Hi there,
I'm having the same problem as the initial poster, I'm trying to resize the start menu to get rid of all that ugly blank space that just seemed to appear from nowhere!
Followed Dwarf's instructions to the letter, but there is no change.
Any help much appreciated,
Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben and welcome to Vista Forums
Can you please post an image to show what blank space you are hoping to remove?
Hi,
Erm, sorry I don't know how to take a snapshot of the start menu, but the space is more or less identical to the image posted above by hahallar, just with different applications obv.
thanks
Ben
Found out how to do a screenshot:

12 apps on right column aswell

Hi Ben,
Click the Start Orb to bring up the menu and then press the PrtScn key. Next, open Paint. Click on Edit and then Paste. Alternatively, user the shortcut Ctrl+V. With either method, follow the instructions in this Tutorial and attach the image to your reply: How to Use the Snipping Tool in Vista
Darn sorry, hopefully this will be it:
