| Vista Ultimate 32bit | Windows XP Setup on Vista Boot Selection Screen Hi guys! I'm new here and I have a problem that I hope you guys can help me with. I had problems with Windows XP a while back and decided to reinstall it. Now I had XP SP3 cd that I had downloaded from Softpedia.com and I burned it into a CD and used it to install XP, now for some wierd reason it had an error about not copying some file (I can't remember what it was though ) and I simply clicked on skip file on the dialog box. Now obviously that file was important since when the computer restarted, displaying the Windows XP Setup boot selection, when I clicked on it it said it couldnt located this other crappy file and setup had to be aborted. So I aborted and selected the other boot selection, which was my old XP. Now the problem begins.I finally got fed up with the problems in XP that I decided to install vista. Now everything when smooth and well, installing vista and all and even installed SP1 for Vista. But everytime I had to restart the damn XP setup selection is still there on the boot selection screen, and it still doesnt work!!! ![]() Is there anyway to somehow get rid of it? I tried Easy BCD but it seems that it isnt located on the selection screen so I guess I cant get rid of it that way. I also deleted my old XP file becuase it was taking up space on my HD. Please help me.. This is really starting to get on my nerves everytime I use the computer. Please any help is appreciated. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Windows XP Setup on Vista Boot Selection Screen Hello Plipz, and welcome to Vista Forums. How and where did you reinstall Vista? Did you format and do a clean install with Vista? For now, check in Method TWO (step 7) below to see if you can remove XP from the boot OS select screen. Boot Partition - Default Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista Ultimate 32bit | Re: Windows XP Setup on Vista Boot Selection Screen I tried your method already and it doesn't work either. The problem is that it doesn't appear to be listed as one of the selectable OS on msconfig (method 2) or the control panel option (method 1). If that were the case I would simply just delete it from there and viola problem solved. But unfortunately the solution seems more elusive than it already is. I installed vista on my primary partition on C. I did a clean install wherein the contents of the previous Windows was put into a folder called Windows.old, except that I just didn't do a reformat since I really didn't feel like backing up 200GB of data. Anyway thanks for that advice, but is there any other way to get rid of this? Last edited by plipz; 01-12-2009 at 03:03 AM.. Reason: added thoughts |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Windows XP Setup on Vista Boot Selection Screen Plipz, It seems that you have tried every available option to try to remove it. The only other option that I know of is to format and do a complete clean reinstall. |
