vista 64bit

If your laptop with the spec of this one:
Toshiba - Qosmio G50-10H the answer is yes. Actually it is better with 64 bit since the laptop is capable of managing 8 gb of rams.

If you decided to switching, make sure backup all the data because a clean installation is necessary. You may us a complete version of 64 bit OS or the upgrade version for less expense by following this instruction: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/68767-clean-install-upgrade-vista.html
